So I was just checking out a new Forza game trailer... and it took me back, back, waaaay back to the very beginning. I remember a big, client conference call talking about what we were looking for, and what we needed, and how it was going to be a super-realistic racing game. I remember the phrase "Almost an extension of YOU". And that stuck with me. I remember being very happy with all the concepts and copy I wrote. Now, 16 years later... 16 years! ... I just looked back at that original trailer, and it brought EVERYTHING back!! Including the "until it's no longer it's a machine... it's you" line. And finally, "You are what you race". Weird.
It was right around that time, I also started writing on "Fast and Furious" movie campaigns... remember "Tokyo Drift??" Sadly, not many do. But frankly, all that work was a lot of fun. I still love all that stuff. Really good times, really good memories.
In an odd turn of events, all my kids want to do is play MarioKart. I guess it's better than nothing. Sigh.
